The construction tender for Windsor's new city hall will be going out within the next couple of weeks.
Construction on the $43.6-million project is expected to begin in May and take 18 months to complete. The budget includes the construction and outfitting of the new building as well as the demolition of the current city hall. It also includes $2.9-million in contingency.
Project Administrator Wadah Al-Yassiri says they've done everything in their power to ensure the bids come in at or below budget.
"That will not only make us look good but give us some leeway to choose some of the provisional items that we included in the tender that will be subject to fund availability," says Al-Yassiri.
Staff will move into the new building around May of 2018 and then the decommissioning of the current city hall will begin.
