Police Taser Man With Knife

Charges have been laid after Windsor police tasered a man who was allegedly threatening to stab himself and officers.

The Windsor Police Service says on Wednesday around 9:30pm, officers were called to a home in Devonshire Heights to check on the well being of a man who was reportedly unresponsive. Upon arrival, officers found a man sitting slumped over at a table. He was reportedly holding a knife and cutting his wrist.

When officers made their presence know, the man jumped up and went down a dark hallway.

Police say the man was agitated and told officers that he wanted to die, while officers assured him that they wanted to get him some help.

The man allegedly held the knife above his head and told officers to leave or he'd stab them. When the man began walking towards the officers, they used a Taser to subdue him and place him under arrest.

The man's handcuffs were removed when paramedics arrived to treat his wrist injuries. However, he became agitated again and had to be placed back in handcuffs before being taken to hospital.

The man is now charged with weapons dangerous and resisting arrest.
