Transit Windsor cleanup crews are left to pick up the pieces after vandals smashed at least seven glass bus shelters.
It's believed the large glass panels were shattered Tuesday morning between 3:30am and 6am at bus shelters east of Lauzon Rd.
Planning manager Steve Habrun says he's waiting on cost estimates before repairs can begin.
"Yesterday our maintenance was out there securing everything, cleaning all the glass," he says. "Structurally everything is still fine, it's just there's a glass panel on each one of the shelters that was broken."
After receiving the call, Habrun says he was surprised and disappointed.
"Vandalism hasn't been too big of an issue with shelters," he says. "I mean there are always one-off shelters that get hit, but something of this magnitude I haven't seen before -- not in Windsor anyway."
Windsor police released the following video of the suspect's vehicle. They are also investigating several complaints of smashed vehicle windows. Police estimate damages of over $15,000 from the 20 incidents reported.
Police are searching for a dark coloured SUV with a spare tire on the back. They say the passenger appears to break the glass by firing something, possibly using a slingshot.
