The newly elected president of the University of Windsor Students' Alliance (UWSA) is hoping use his position to raise the profile of the university.
Moussa Hamadani was elected to the position on March 17 and will succeed current UWSA President Jaydee Tarpeh as of May 1.
"I've always believed in the city. [I was] born and raised here and I've always believed in this university," says Hamadani. "When you say the name of other universities, they usually have a ring to it, and I always wondered why can't we attach that ring to the University of Windsor."
Hamadani is in his third year of international relations and development studies, with a double concentration on history and Middle Eastern studies.
The newly elected student president for 2016/2017 says he has a number of extensive goals in mind going forward.
"It's based on three themes. One is creating a safe and inclusive campus for all students, and two is advocating for improvements for the everyday student experience. And three is promoting an active and driven student union," says Hamadani. "There's much more detail that goes into each theme... there's a lot of plans coming to the university."
Hamadani served as a board member with the UWSA for the last year before being elected as the student union president.
