Windsor Regional Hospital will be recognized for its success in treating hip fractures at an international forum in Sweden this week.
The hospital is the best in Ontario when it comes getting patients with hip fractures into surgery within 48 hours.
Now, its Chief of the Orthopaedic Department Dr. Abdelrahman Elashaal will represent the hospital at the forum and share Windsor Regional's approach on the matter.
"This has put us in the international spotlight," says Elashaal. "It puts our institution in the spotlight as a leader in this region."
He points to team work as the key in achieving the results the hospital has.
"I think number one is the strong leadership on all levels. Number two is the willingness of different specialties and different services in the hospital to work together to achieve these good results," says Elashaal.
More than 70 countries are set to attend the forum which is set to run from April 12 - 15.
