Construction on new homes in Windsor-Essex increased 33% in April, continuing a 16-month trend.
Construction started on 71 single-detached and 26 multi-unit homes; a total of 97 starts compared to 73 in April 2015. It's also a 58.7% increase over March of this year.
So far this year, the Canada Housing and Mortgage Corporation says housing starts have increased 86%, a reflection of a market where housing sales have also increased dramatically.
Across the province, housing starts slipped slightly last month by 2%, while they increased 2% nationally.
