The CEO of Canada's Chamber of Commerce senses optimism among business leaders in Windsor.
Perrin Beatty met with members of the local chamber of commerce this week, saying he sees economic growth in the city, and it's thanks to the community's strong base.
"You have geography on your side, you have excellent educational institutions, you have a strong community base of organizations," says Beatty. "You have expertise here -- whether it's in the agri-food sector or in the manufacturing sector."
Beatty is travelling around the country to get a sense of what different communities need. He'll then bring that information back to his colleagues in Ottawa, where they'll make recommendations to the federal government.
The CEO says it's been mostly positive different dealing with the new Liberal government over the last seven months, as they're more open and eager to learn than the Harper Conservatives were. He'd still like to see a larger focus on business from them, however.
All eyes are also on the United States federal election this year, to see how the results south of the border could affect business in Canada.
