A $1-million donation to the University of Windsor is allowing it to build an outdoor gathering space, right in the heart of its main campus.
The David A. Wilson Campus Commons will feature pathways, benches, trees, a basketball court and a stage.
"It will be a tremendous crossroads-meeting place for campus faculty, students," says Wilson. "You might even see some people teaching courses, when they get the landscaping done, under the trees."
Wilson's an alumnus of the school, and says he was thrilled with the idea of a common area when President Alan Wildeman presented him with a plan.
The space is located between Sunset Ave. and California Ave., right in from of Lambton Tower.
Half of Wilson's donation is being used for the project, while the other half is going toward bursaries and scholarships for UWindsor students.
