Brantford Man Identified In Fatal Hwy. 3 Crash

Police have released the name of a motorcyclist who was killed in multi-vehicle crash in Kingsville.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Friday around 2:45pm, a three-wheeled motorcycle was travelling east on Hwy. 3 between County Rd. 18 and Upcott Side Rd., when it veered into the westbound lane. The motorcycle crashed head-on into a tractor trailer that was hauling gravel, and was then redirected back into the eastbound lane where it was struck a second time by a black Dodge pickup truck.

The crash caused the tractor trailer to drive into the eastbound lane and strike a camper trailer that was being towed by a Ford pickup truck. The tractor trailer then struck the driver's side of a red Dodge pickup truck which was also towing a camper trailer. The tractor trailer and red Dodge came to a rest in the eastbound ditch.

A Chevrolet pickup truck was also driven into the ditch to avoid the crash and was not damaged.

Police say the driver of the motorcycle, 66-year-old Michael Dostal of Brantford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the red Dodge was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but the injuries have since been upgraded to non-life threatening.

The drivers of the transport truck and black Dodge pickup truck suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash. A passenger in the red Dodge pickup truck also sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Hwy. 3 was closed for several hours between County Rd. 18 and Upcott Side Rd. while officers conducted an investigation.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing at this time.
