Highbury Canco Hopes To Hire Even More

There's only so much the president of Highbury Canco in Leamington can say about his company's expanded partnership with French's.

Sam Diab can confirm the two companies are developing two new products. As for what they are:

"Can't say, unfortunately," says Diab. "It's still being kept confidential just for competitive reasons."

He says the mystery products could hit the market late this year, but more likely, in 2017.

And Diab confirms it will mean new jobs at the Leamington plant. So, how many jobs?

"It really depends on the success of the product."

When Highbury Canco opened in 2014, it employed 250 workers. Right now, 450 full-time employees work there.

French's announced the expanded partnership Thursday in a release which also said it plans to bottle all ketchup sold in Canada, in Canada. It's partnering with Toronto's Select Food Products to build a new plant which could be operational early next year.
