WECDSB Reaches Tentative Deal With Teachers

The Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board has reached a tentative agreement with its secondary teachers.

Details of the agreement will not be released until after ratification. The 480 secondary teachers with the Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association will vote on the contract Monday afternoon.

Board Chair Barbara Holland says it's fair and reasonable for both sides.

“We believe this is an equitable deal that is manageable within the context of our current budget situation, and makes certain that the best teachers will be in front of our high school students,” says Holland.

Contract negotiations between the board and Unifor 2458, which represents custodial and maintenance, office, clerical and technical workers, are ongoing. Agreements have already been reached with the board’s elementary and occasional teachers, as well as with CUPE Locals 1358.1, which represents the educational assistants group, and 1358.2, the special services unit which represents such employees as early childhood educators and child and youth workers.
