The City of Windsor is launching an app designed to help refugees and immigrants find the services they need to help them adjust to their new home.
MyNewCity uses internationally recognized symbols on a map to make it easy to find a service regardless of the user's primary language. Entries can also be searched by a keyword, service address, or name of the agency. The results will pop up with a phone number, website link and a photo of the building for easy recognition.
The app is an initiative of the Geomatics Division of Engineering Department at the City of Windsor and was development in partnership with the Windsor Essex Local Immigration Partnership, and the Orientation Advisory Committee. It's available at www.mapmycity.ca.
Since January, Windsor has welcomed more than 700 refugees.
