The City of Windsor has a contingency plan for Ontario Works clients in the event of a work disruption at Canada Post.
There's a possibility 50,000 members of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers could be off the job July 2.
Recipients who receive their cheque through direct deposit will continue to do so, but Ontario Drug Benefit cards and dental cards won't be mailed out if carriers go on strike or are locked out.
For recipients who receive their cheques by mail, they can pick them up at two locations: at the College Avenue Community Centre in Windsor from 9am to 3:45pm, and in Leamington, at 33 Princess St., also known as the Hub.
Recipients are asked to bring two pieces of government identification, one with a photo.
Property managers and superintendents picking up cheques will also have to bring government identification, along with verification they represent the owner.
Cheques will be available for pickup today, tomorrow and on Monday, July 4.
Before picking up a cheque at the distribution centre, call 1-800-808-2268 to ensure your cheque has been printed and call your caseworker July 5 for further instructions.
