It was once known as Patricia Rd., but now a pedestrian walkway on the campus of the University of Windsor will be known as Alistair MacLeod Walk.
Professor Macleod wrote the novel "No Great Mischief" about an orthodontist living in Leamington who remembers his challenged childhood as an orphan on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. He also taught English and Creative Writing at the University for more than three decades. MacLeod passed away April 20, 2014.
A release from the University says Alistair MacLeod Walk will serve as a permanent reminder of the importance of literature and the humanities. It stretches from the Stephen and Vicki Adams Welcome Centre to the Leddy Library.
The University recently announced it was also renaming the former Sunset Ave. Turtle Island Walk.
There will be an official event this fall to unveil signage for Alistair MacLeod Walk and Turtle Island Walk.
