The City of Windsor and the University of Windsor are seriously considering a bike sharing project.
The Environment, Heritage and Public Safety Standing Committee supported the motion for what could be a pilot project.
"I've gotta go back to last weekend, the Open Streets [Festival], the eight-kilometre stretch," says councillor Bill Marra. "That, to me, is a barometer, in my opinion, that people in this community do want these opportunities."
There are still some details to work out including how much a pilot project would cost, and how to share those costs. Marra says a resolution also calls on administration to approach St.Clair College about involvement.
He says it's possible the city will set up a non-profit organization to operate the program.
Administration will come back with options to consider before it goes to city council for approval. -- With files from Ricardo Veneza.
