Hot Weather Not Slowing Down Walkerville Art Walk

Walkerville's Art Walk and Rock festival will feature more music than ever before.

"We actually have a main stage over on Argyle Rd., presented by Cool 100.7 and Walkerville Brewery," says Walkerville BIA Coordinator Veronica Samek. "Also, throughout the entire district we've got pockets of music happening -- on Devonshire Rd., over near Gladstone Ave. and even in the middle [of Wyandotte St.]."

Those stages are expected to feature local acts all weekend, including Kiss tribute band Destroyer Friday night, and Crissi Cochrane Saturday evening.

Samek says extended patios, as well as art and food vendors, will be spread throughout Walkerville. Plus, there will be many ways to keep cool on what's supposed to be an extremely hot weekend.

"We do have a park," she explains. "So I think that people will really start to notice that we do. That's a common question, like, 'You guys have a park?' 'Yeah, we do, and it's super decked-out right now.' So if you come by, we have an art installation."

Art Walk and Rock is in its 14th year, and kicks off at 5pm Friday.
