Youth Injured In Hit And Run

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a driver following a hit and run incident in Amherstburg.

Amherstburg police say on Saturday around 8:33pm, a youth was running east on the shoulder of County Rd. 18, when he was struck from behind by the passenger-side mirror of a pick-up truck. The vehicle then fled the scene at a high rate of speed, heading east on County Rd. 18.

The mirror of the truck broke off as a result of the collision.

The youth suffered minor injuries to his back and elbow.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a newer model, white or silver GMC Sierra, with heavily tinted windows. The passenger-side mirror of the vehicle would be missing.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Amherstburg Police Service.
