A Pleasant Addition To McGregor

Residents in McGregor are enjoying a new parkette in the heart of town.

"Our Communities in Bloom committee had this vision of turning it into a small passive park," says Town of Essex Deputy Mayor Richard Meloche. "This is just for people to stop, have a rest, reflect. I think it turned out fabulous."

The park features a gazebo, park benches and flower beds.

"We're hoping that this will be the site of a community Christmas tree at some point in time.  Once the tree is big enough, it's a little bit of a Charlie Brown tree right now, but at some point in time we'll have that and maybe have an event here," says Meloche.

The park is on the former site of the McGregor library branch which has been vacant for a number of years. The project started in 2015 and cost $90,000 to complete.
