Lakeshore Mayor Tom Bain doesn't want to complain about all the new development in town, but he admits it is causing some major traffic problems.
"Unfortunately, when you're bringing in a lot of small business, and you're building new residential areas, you've got traffic problems," he says.
The biggest is perhaps on County Rd. 22 just over the bridge coming into town. For years, it's been a trick for traffic on Front and 1st streets to turn onto Notre Dame St., Belle River's main business corridor, and Bain says it's only going to get worse as development continues.
So, the town is considering building a roundabout.
"We've seen roundabouts in the area, they appear to be working quite well," he says. "One of the things we got to do is make sure it's large enough. The small ones don't work as well."
Town staff will investigate three options, including how much it would cost to build a roundabout.
