The Windsor Express is banking on a new season ticket promotion to help get the organization closer to break even.
Dartis Willis, the team's top executive, is excited about the plan to offer free season passes for kids with the sale of an adult season ticket pass.
"We're going into our fifth year," says Willis. "What a pleasant opportunity for us to increase sales and to get closer to breaking even; just gets us closer to where we got to be."
The children's tickets are available to those under 13 years old.
Willis calls season ticket sales one of the most important foundations needed for the Windsor Express to be a sustainable organization and consistent presence in the community.
"It was a good opportunity to say, 'Wait a minute — if we can bring in more season tickets by allowing the kids in, why not do it at the beginning ?'" says Willis. "Bring out the family and we'll let the kids come out. It was important to us and I think it will induce sales, allowing [the team] to build that revenue up front so you can function during the season."
The Express are expected to play their first game of the new NBL Canada season on December 26.
