Driver Charged In Hit And Run Case

A 45-year-old Amherstburg man is being charged in a hit and run investigation.

Police report a young man was running eastbound along the shoulder of County Rd. 18 in Amherstburg around 8:30pm on July 30 when he was hit from behind by the side mirror of a full-sized pick-up truck. The side mirror broke off from the truck after hitting the young man.

The truck took off from the scene, leaving the victim at the side of road. He suffered what police describe as minor injuries to his back and elbow.

Police report a driver in a green car stopped to help the runner.

The charges against the driver of the truck include careless driving and leaving the scene of a crash.
