Setting Kids Up For Future Employment

Workforce Windsor-Essex wants to help parents better assist their children in setting career goals.

Research Analyst Stephanie Dupley says parents are some of the biggest influences on their kids' career choices, so they've created an online toolkit for them.

She suggests they take a look at it when their kids are about 12 or 13 years old.

"A lot of the skills and the knowledge that kids need in order to make these choices develops when they're younger," says Dupley. "So by the time they get to high school and they're making course choices, we want them to be able to make those choices based on information."

The toolkit, which is available in 11 different languages, can be found online at workforcewindsoressex.com.

It lays out which careers are in high demand across Windsor-Essex, and the paths students can take to reach their goals.
