If you still plan on filing nomination papers to run in Tecumseh's upcoming byelection in Ward Two, you had better act fast.
The deadline to file is 2pm Tuesday.
Town Clerk, Laura Moy says there are some restrictions on who can run.
"They do have to be a resident or a [property] owner, or the spouse of a property owner within Tecumseh," she says. "They have to be at least 18-years-old and a Canadian citizen."
A nomination form has to be filled out at Tecumseh Town Hall and nominees will have to complete a declaration indicating that they are qualified to run.
Six candidates have already filed. They are Bill Altenhof, Chris Carpenter, Marian Drouillard, Janet Harris, Scott Shields and Jeremy Souillere.
"Normally we don't see that many candidates in a regular election for one council position," says Moy indicating there seems to be a lot of interest in the byelection.
As for the electors, those living in Ward Two can expect to receive in the mail a PIN number to vote on the website or over the phone any time between October 4 and October 14.
The results will be posted on the town's website after 8pm October 14 when the polls close.
A byelection was called after the sudden death of popular councillor, Mike Rohrer.
