Another Wet 24 Hours Ahead

Environment Canada says we're not out of the woods quite yet.

Over the next 24 hours, Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says we'll get more heavy showers adding to what has already been the wettest September in five years.

"This system is really staying put down in Indiana and Kentucky -- spinning more bands of moisture up towards Essex County," he says. "It's going to be on and off through the day today, and through much of the day on Saturday."

Environment Canada says much of Essex County can expect another 70 mm (2.75 inches) Friday and Saturday.

At the official observation site at the Windsor International Airport, the total so far for this month is 150 mm (5.9 inches), compared to the September average of 94 mm (3.7 inches).

Tecumseh received 190 mm (7.48 inches) between 9pm Wednesday and 3pm Thursday.  Windsor received 80 mm (3.1 inches).

That's still nowhere near as sopping as the month of September 2011 when 228 mm (8.97 in) of rain fell.

However, relief is on the way.

"Monday morning, there should be some lingering cloud and maybe a weak shower or two, but as the day progresses we should see more in the way of sunshine," says Coulson. "Tuesday into Friday -- plenty of sunshine in the forecast [and] temperatures, a few degrees warmer than normal."

Highs next week are expected to peak at 23 C (73 F) on Wednesday.
