Teen Arrested For Air Pistol

A 16-year-old Windsor teen has been charged after allegedly carrying around an air pistol that resembled a semi-automatic gun.

Windsor police say around noon on Tuesday, the teen allegedly was seen in Jackson Park next to Kennedy High School with the firearm in his waistband.

Officers flooded the area in search of a male suspect, who was located in the area of Giles Blvd. and Ouellette Ave. Police allege the teen immediately fled the scene and discarded the air pistol into the hedges.

He was arrested at gunpoint and taken into custody without incident and is now charged with possession of a weapon/imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The Windsor Police Service would like to remind the public of the danger of imitation firearms when carried in public areas. They say even at a short distance it can be difficult for officers to determine if the weapon is real or not.
