Vehicle Crashes Into Portable Classroom, Bursts Into Flames

Police have charged a 20-year-old man after a vehicle slammed into a portable classroom and burst into flames behind a Windsor high school.

The Windsor Police Service says the crash occurred on Sunday around 3:30am, when a vehicle that had been circling the track at of Vincent Massey Secondary School, left the south end of the track, slid along the rain soaked grass, and crashed into the portable classroom. The vehicle then burst into flames and the fire spread to the classroom.

Windsor Fire and Rescue attended the scene and quickly extinguished the blaze.

No one was injured as a result of the crash and fire, but police say there was heavy damage to the vehicle and classroom.

A 20-year-old man from Windsor has been charged with mischief resulting in damage to property exceeding $5,000.
