Two Charged After Crime Spree In Essex

Two people are facing a number of charges after a short crime spree in the Town of Essex.

The Ontario Provincial Police says on Saturday, a Ford Focus was stolen from a Morton Ave. residence, and several other vehicles were entered. Credit cards and other valuables were reportedly stolen.

A few hours later, police identified two suspects and the stolen vehicle was recovered in Amherstburg.

Joseph Hanlon, 27, of Amherstburg has been charged with the following offences:

  • Seven counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Break and enter
  • Six counts of theft from a motor vehicle under $5,000
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Two counts of unlawful use of a credit card
Brittney Michos, 28, pf Windsor is charged with:
  • Five counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Break and enter
  • Five counts of theft from a motor vehicle under $5,000
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Two counts of unlawful use of a credit card
The OPP says is still a quantity of stolen property that needs to be identified and claimed. Anyone in the Morton Ave. are who has noticed items stolen from their vehicles, is asked to call police at 519-723-2491.
