Police responded to Vincent Massey Secondary School on Monday after a post on social media over the weekend caused a stir.
Windsor police got the call to investigate the image Sunday after a student posted it.
"The image was of the person holding a firearm, and the image was only intended to be shared with a friend, but this friend posted it," says Constable Andrew Drouillard.
After the image was viewed hundreds of times, police say the false message developed that there was a threat of violence at the school -- but investigators stress there was no threat.
"In of itself, it is a threatening image," says Drouillard. "You don't want people to view this image and have the concerns that they have -- but, we're glad they did call us."
They talked to the student involved. A plastic replica of a gun was seized but the student will not be charged.
