There are a number of free family events taking place this New Year's Eve Day, especially if you are up for a drive in the county.
The Harrow & Colchester South Chamber of Commerce hosts its fourth annual New Year's Eve "Countdown in the Downtown" event. From 7pm to 10pm, there's skating, ball hockey, face painting and crafts. At 10pm, watch the ball drop and enjoy the fireworks.
The Town of Essex is hosting free family skating at both arenas, the Essex Centre Sports Complex from 5pm to 7pm, and the Harrow and Colchester South Community Centre from 7pm to 9pm.
The Canadian Transportation Museum & Heritage Village is holding a New Year's Eve Party from 5pm to 1am.

River Lights Winter Festival Gingerbread House & Displays continues in Amherstburg from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
The Town of LaSalle is planning a Canada 150 themed fireworks display at 7:30pm at the Vollmer Recreation Centre.
On the other side of the county, Tim Horton's is sponsoring a free family skate at the Atlas Tube Centre from 10am to 11:30am.
There's lots going on in the City of Windsor too with a free family skate at Central Park Athletics from 9am to 11am. Adventure Bay Family Water Park downtown is hosting its own New Year's Eve event from 10am to 4pm, while the kids can take part in scavenger hunts and crafts at the Chimczuk Museum from 10am to 5pm.
