The Windsor police are crediting an alert citizen for helping with the arrest of an alleged impaired driver.
Around 8pm on Tuesday, a truck crashed into a traffic light on Division Rd. near Home Depot. The truck fled the scene continuing to drive in a erratic manner and even swerving into oncoming traffic.
A citizen called police and provided them with location updates. The driver eventually pulled into a parking lot on Provincial Rd.
Police arrived at the scene and arrested a 50-year-old Windsor man. He allegedly registered blood alcohol levels of almost six times the legal limit.
The man has been charged with impaired driving, exceeding breath test and failing to remain at the scene of a collision.
