The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for a small plane that disappeared almost a week ago over the waters of Lake Erie.
The Cessna Citation 525 disappeared from radar shortly after takeoff from an airport in Cleveland late Thursday night. With six people on board, it was on its way to an airport in Columbus Ohio.
On Tuesday, officials confirmed a piece of luggage was found, but there has been no other trace of the plane.
U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Second Class Christopher Yaw says the search gets harder as the days go by.
"There's just so many factors that go into any search," he says. "With conditions on the lake and the wind -- it does, over time, get more difficult."
The case has been handed over to officials with the City of Cleveland for now, but Yaw says the Coast Guard continues involvement and if there is further evidence the plane crashed, it will renew its lead.
