Divers have located what may be human remains among debris from a plane that is believed to have gone down over Lake Erie last week.
On Friday, the City of Cleveland confirmed that the cockpit voice recorder from the Cessna Citation 525 was located and retrieved intact from the water. A section of the plane’s tail has also been recovered, along with other debris that may belong to the aircraft.
City officials say a medical examiner has collected the debris for review and analysis to determine whether or not human remains have been found.
The Cessna Citation 525 disappeared from radar shortly after takeoff from an airport in Cleveland the night of December 29. The plane was on its way to an airport in Columbus, Ohio with three adults and three children on board.
Search and recovery have been called off until Monday due to weather and water conditions.
