Deadline For Flood Assistance Approaching

If you have not filed an application yet for provincial assistance after last September's flood in Windsor and Tecumseh, you had better do it soon.

The deadline for financial assistance through the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians program is January 31.

Because incomplete applications can cause delays, the City of Windsor has some tips to ensure claims are processed quickly.

For example, be sure to include a copy of your driver's license or other Ontario photo ID, a copy of your property tax bill or other documents proving ownership of your home, documents from your insurance company detailing whether your claim was accepted or denied, all receipts for repairs, and photos of damage resulting from the flood.

The city also reminds homeowners damage caused by a sewer backup is not eligible unless you qualify for a special provision.

If you still have questions, call 1-844-780-8925 or email disasterassistance@ontario.ca.
