City Starts Enforcing No Front Yard Parking

Starting February 1, parking enforcement officers will be on the lookout for anybody who parks on their front lawn.

Back in December, Windsor city council adopted a bylaw prohibiting parking on front or side yards.

Anyone caught parking on their front lawn could be ticketed $25.

The city says there is a good reason why you should follow the bylaw. It can block emergency personnel arriving to save someone you love in your home. It blocks the sightline for pedestrians and other vehicles. It can block water shutoffs and sewer cleanouts which can lead to flooding in your basement.

It is also unattractive and can damage your front lawn.
