Windsor councillors are keeping a close eye on drone usage in city parks and recreational spaces.
Currently a person can only fly a drone, or any other "powered models of aircraft" in a city park with a permit and under Transport Canada regulations.
Councillor Irek Kusmierczyk says he doesn't want to ban drones but wants to be sure they do not become a nuisance.
"People want to enjoy the parks they don't want to see a drone buzzing over their heads. They certainly don't want to have someone snapping their pictures having pictures taken of their children playing soccer or baseball or in festivals," says Kusmierczyk.
Transport Canada intends to introduce new regulations in 2017 that will apply to drones for recreational use. City administration told council they intend to keep an eye on any developments and report back to council.
