Thief Makes Off With iPads From Leamington Hospital

Officials at Leamington District Memorial Hospital have called the Ontario Provincial Police after a thief stole three iPads from a lounge.

Environmental Services Manager Jason Keane manages security at the hospital and says the suspect brazenly came to the hospital Monday night and then again Wednesday night.

"He took one [iPad] the first night, and I thought well okay, it's sort of a one-off, " says Keane. "But then he came back last night and took two more."

The iPads, worth about $1,000 each, are bolted down. They are kept in the lounge for visitors who are waiting for their loved ones.

"That was paid for by foundation funds people have donated to the hospital," he says.

Keane says he has both video and still pictures of the suspect.

"There's actually a coffee bar -- so he came in and helped himself to a free coffee, and then sat down and stole the Ipads," he says.

Keane says the iPads have a sticker on the back identifying them as the property of the hospital.

He hopes to replace them but says, "I'm going to have to figure out a better way to mount them."
