It turns out last month managed to break a temperature record in Windsor-Essex.
Back on February 21, Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson told BlackburnNews.com that despite some very warm days, he did not think Windsor-Essex would reach the record for warmest February. That was before another warm spell settled over the region.
"We saw a number of days well above where they should be," says Coulson. "Three days in a row where temperatures got up to 16 C (61 F) or warmer -- February 23, 19.6 C (67.2 F) -- so some incredible temperatures."
That helped boost the average temperature to 2.3 C (36.1 F), slightly warmer than February 1998.
As travelers prepare for March Break, Coulson says we're in for a cool down starting at the end of this week.
"We've got to go through this somewhat colder than normal air for a little bit," he says. "But, it does look like we're going to see a return to above seasonal temperatures in the second half of March."
