The Essex Region Conservation Authority warns there is a possibility of flooding, shoreline erosion and damaging waves along the shores of Lake Erie.
Predicted winds of 45-60 km/h and gusts of up to 90 km/h over the next ten hours prompted the watch. Environment Canada also issued a wind warning for Windsor-Essex during day, which lasted until around 8pm.
Waves could be particularly damaging along the west side of Pelee Island, Point Pelee and along the shore of Leamington.
The authority says it is monitoring the situation and will provide updates.
The watch is in effect until 9am Thursday.
