Police Officers Now Allowed Breaks In Public

If you see a uniformed Windsor police officer sitting down to eat at a local restaurant, it doesn't mean he or she is slacking on the job, it might just be lunch break.

The Windsor Police Service is launching a new pilot project, permitting uniformed officers to take their scheduled breaks in the community.

It believes the city will benefit, as officers can now remain visible and operational at all times. The service sees it as an opportunity for community exposure and engagement.

All uniformed officers are expected to remain immediately deployable during their breaks, in the event that their service is required.
