Windsor's Forest Glade Library is getting infused with new technology thanks to $12,000 from the City of Windsor Ward Funds and the Ward Renewal Project of CUPE Local 82.
The Occulus Rift Virtual Reality System, which the library says can be used for gaming, learning and exploration, headlines the new purchases.
Users at Forest Glade will also now find many of the same features which can be found at the Central Library Technology Hub, such as a 3D printer, circuitry kits, app controlled robots and robotic kits, as well as a small, lightweight drone. The library is also adding Muse meditation headbands, which sense brainwaves and are beneficial to the meditation practice.
"Staff are busy developing exciting programming incorporating the new hardware and software which will only be a tremendous benefit to the community," Windsor Public Library CEO Kitty Pope.
Ward 7 City Councillor Irek Kusmierczyk hopes the technology boost will bring more people to the local library branch.
