The City of Windsor will be charging $10 for parking at the WFCU Centre and a newly leased lot during the Memorial Cup in May.
"At the end of the day we want to make sure that the visitors to Windsor, that the people who bought ticket to the Memorial Cup, can park close enough to have a good experience and leave the city of Windsor with a very positive impression," says Mayor Drew Dilkens.
All people attending the game will be required to pay except for season ticket holders who purchased tickets.
Dilkens says they are hoping the revenue from parking will offset the cost of leasing the additional lot.
"We're spending about $75,000 to license that space, and our goal is to actually break even. So there's about 800 spaces on the far east side, and we expect that for 10 days it's going to be full," says Dilkens.
The leased lot is next door to the WFCU Centre and is owned by Farhi Holdings.
The city has also committed to offering a free shuttle for people who do not want to pay for parking.
