City Hoping to Attract Police-Fire Games

The City of Windsor is making a bid for the 2022 Can-Am Police-Fire games.

Can-Am Police-Fire games is a multi-sport event for emergency responders that is hosted in the United States or Canada every two years. It attracts approximately 800 participants.

"There's a whole host of different events. Kind of interesting events as well related to police and fire, there's shooting, ladder climbs and all the things that those folks have to do and train for in their jobs. So there's a lot of skill type of events," says Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens.

It doesn't cost anything for the city to make the bid but if they are awarded the event it's estimated it will cost around $580,000 to host.

The organization estimates the games can bring in around $5-$10-million in economic spin off.
