The Ontario Provincial Police say a 2-year-old boy found in a backyard pool in Tecumseh last week has died at Children's Hospital of Michigan.
The boy fell into a pool on Dresden Pl. around 7:30pm Wednesday and was rushed to a Windsor hospital in critical condition, before he was transferred to Michigan.
Tecumseh OPP, Tecumseh Fire and Rescue and EMS responded.
Initially, the OPP reported the youngster had died, but later that evening issued a correction. Another child had been admitted to Children's Hospital of Michigan under similar circumstances and had passed away, leading to the confusion.
Police issued an apology to the family.
The investigation into the incident has now concluded.
