Amherstburg Town Council is questioning whether it is getting its money's worth when it comes to ambulance service.
Concerns over funding and cost distribution, as well as tiered response, and service levels were brought up at Essex County Council Wednesday night.
Mayor Aldo DiCarlo told his county colleagues that there may not be enough paramedics coverage for the volume in his town.
DiCarlo feels his town may be paying for ambulance services it's not getting.
"There's some discussion about reciprocal agreements with fire departments, and it's our understanding that not all municipalities have these reciprocal agreements. So, for those municipalities that do not, are other municipalities then having reduced services because of it?" asked DiCarlo.
Essex County administration is now working on a report to identify if there are any gaps in funding or service and how the potential deficiencies can be fixed.
DiCarlo believes his town may be paying more than its fair share for the ambulance services it's receiving.
"Are we covering other municipalities that are refusing to have that reciprocal agreement, leaving us and other municipalities possibly short?" he inquired.
DiCarlo says Amherstburg just wants to get a good bang for its buck.
"Are we paying more than our fair share? But, there's also a concern that if the services are not adequate, then they need to be addressed," said DiCarlo.
