Staff at Leamington District Secondary School are inviting residents and former students to say farewell to the current high school site.
The school recently discovered that a time capsule was placed at LDSS by the premier of Ontario in 1952 before the school was officially opened in 1953. The capsule will be opened Saturday at 10am by three former students who were attending the school at that time.
The school's new location on Oak St. W is nearing completion and will be ready for students to begin the new school year in September. Plans of the new school will also be on display during the closing ceremonies of the current location.
The school will also share artifacts and photos from the seven decades at the current site. The open house runs from 10am-2pm.
