Organizers of this year's Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix say approximately 100,000 people attended the three-day event on Belle Isle.
It marks the fifth time in six years attendance surpassed the 95,000 mark.
On Friday, June 2, more than 25,000 fans came out for Comerica Bank Free Prix Day. Saturday saw the best attendance numbers for that day in the history of the race with more than 45,000 fans, and despite the threat of rain early on Sunday 30,000 people walked through the front gate.
Outside of the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500, this year's Chevrolet Dual in Detroit posted the most successful series this season. According to Nielsen ratings, the IndyCar race broadcasts from Belle Isle recorded 5.02-million unique viewers over the course of the weekend, second only to the Indy 500 this year.
INDYCAR also reported the event had the highest total social media engagement and growth of any series event, including the Indy 500.
