The House of Sophrosyne has received an $80,000 donation to its capital campaign to renovate its new location in east Windsor.
The money comes from the Toldo Foundation.
The Building for Recovery campaign is raising money to relocate the House of Sophrosyne to the former St. Alexander Catholic Elementary School on Adstoll Ave. The new location, which is much larger than the current building, is expected to shorten wait times for women living with an addiction, increase the number of beds for residential programs, provide more counselling services and provide mothers and their children with greater access to childcare.
"Investing in programs that fight addiction is especially important today as we continue to see the impacts of addiction on our community and families," says Alex Toldo of the Toldo Foundation.
So far, the capital campaign has raised $900,000 of the $3.5-million needed to complete renovations.
The House of Sophrosyne first opened in Windsor in 1978.
