Amherstburg Hosts Public Meetings On Two Major Projects

Just as Amherstburg embarks on two major projects, it is looking for some feedback from its residents.

There are two public meetings Thursday night. The first is about the proposed development on the town's waterfront property, and the second is about restorations underway at the Belle Vue House.

The meeting on the waterfront development starts at 5pm at the Libro Credit Union Centre on Meloche Rd. Immediately afterwards, public consultation on the latest heritage project starts at 7pm.

The public will get to see conceptual plans for both endeavours at the meetings.

Demolition of the old Duffy's Tavern and Motel is currently underway, and the town plans to expand King's Navy Yard Park to include more gardens and green space, a new marina and more boat slips. The entire project could cost $7-million, but town council still has to approve it.

Fundraising to restore the Belle Vue House is also underway.
