Commercial Vacancy Rebates may soon be a thing of the past in Essex County.
Amherstburg and Lasalle are among several county municipalities considering eliminating them next year but the county wants public input first.

Landlords can apply for a 30% rebate of their property taxes if they have vacant stores for at least 90 days.
Amherstburg administration says the same landlords apply for the rebate every year instead of fixing the problem and filling their stores.
