Gun, Drugs Found During Traffic Stop In Lakeshore

A routine afternoon traffic stop on Hwy. 401 has turned up a prohibited gun and drugs.

The Ontario Provincial Police say officers pulled over a Jeep SUV with two people inside for speeding in the eastbound lanes in Lakeshore Sunday.

The female driver of the Jeep provided a false name to the officer, so police arrested her and searched the vehicle. That is when they found a fully-automatic firearm, ammunition and two prohibited magazines. They also seized cocaine, methadone, drug paraphernalia and cash.

The male passenger was also arrested.

A 19-year-old Windsor woman now faces charges including personation with intent to avoid arrest, unauthorized possession of a firearm, identity theft, possession for the purpose of trafficking and careless storage of a firearm.

A 31-year-old Etobicoke man faces similar charges.

Police ask anyone with information about the suspects to give them a call at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
